Health care insurance, the scams continue!

A lot of news coverage on health care scams is on TV lately. It’s on every channel, news of hospital bills in the tens of thousands of dollars for sponges and other things that the general public would consider cheap. The last one I happened to catch was about how this lady went to the hospital to get a simple surgery and the bill displayed multiple charges for items not even used in the surgery. I would go out on a limb and say these frivolous charges have been going on for a long time with health care insurance, but these days, with the political pressures being applied everywhere, the health care insurance scams seem to be surfacing much more frequently. I doubt anything will ever be done about it though, because it seems big corporations always get their way and the health care insurance companies are about as big as it gets.

While laying there, John wondered if he remembered to make his health care insurance payment last month...

How did things with health care insurance get this bad? I’m sure greed is the major contributor to the problem but I also think there is much more than meets the eye with this issue. There are check systems in place to protect consumers and tax payers but if these safety nets are not being respected, the scams are bound to get through the net, especially with the moneys involved in something like health care insurance.

Will things change now with the new reforms and recent rules & regulations being put in place? Again, I hate to be pessimistic, but if there’s one thing history has shown, it’s that big business has a way of getting their way and I can’t see how things are going to be different this time. There just is no such thing as cheap insurance when it comes to health care insurance. All were seeing is political agendas surfacing through the nonsense, as usual. I hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it.

With the aid of his health care insurance, Bob's most important finger was saved...

You would think something as important as health care insurance would be treated with respect and have complete transparency & accountability, but unfortunately the exact opposite is true in this case. Maybe someday health care insurance will get the respect it deserves. Until then, I guess we’ll just have to keep listening to the politicians bicker back and forth & make no sense at all as usual.
